"State Govt has failed to look after schools for persons with disabilities"

Underlining the lack of infrastructure and other facilities at Government Ideal blind School and Deaf and mute School, Parents and Guardians Council of Persons with Disabilities Manipur, has appealed the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
Speaking to a team of media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Parents and Guardians Council of Persons with Disabilities Manipur media secretary Konthoujam Sonia said that the two schools which educates children/students with disabilities are in a pathetic condition as they have been neglected by the State Government.
The teaching system, reading materials, infrastructure and the number of teachers at the said schools are quite different as compared to other Government schools, she said adding that the absence of sufficient number of teachers at the schools has led to irregular classes.
Maintaining that several commotion and problems have come up at the said schools owing to the non-release of mess fee for the hostel students, by the State Government, Sonia claimed adding that the necessary staff to control such ruckus are also not available.
She asserted that there has been no appropriate reading material or infrastructure, eligible teachers to teach those differently-abled students who cleared the class X examination adding that the State Government has failed to look into this matter as well.
Claiming that the State Government has plan/proposal to upgrade the two schools, the media secretary warned that the council will launch stringent forms of agitation if the authority concerned fail to take up positive steps within 15.Parents and Guardians Council of persons with Disabilities Manipur submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting the lack of infrastructure and other facilities of Government Idea Blind School and Government Deaf and mute School.
