Luita Phanit / Hampai festival begins

The annual seed sowing festival of Loree Kaju (Nungbi village) began with joy and happiness offering best hospitality services to all the visiting guests in the fest while every households prepared additional food to host the visitors during the seed sowing festival.
As part of the festival, organic rice beer (Khor) brewed by villagers were served in a mug made from gourd called "Shon" in Tangkhul dialect to the guest while the feast was hosted in the courtyard to welcome the non-local guest.
Native village girls dressed in traditional attire receiving the visitors in every households added much fervor to the Loree Kaju Luita phanit.

Loree Kaju is about 35 Kms away from Ukhrul inhabited by 456 households.
Headman of Loree Kaju, Vaoyang R' Ronra invoked the traditional ceremonial blessing for agricultural cultivation of the new year.
Earlier, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Hopingson A' Shimray inaugurated the three day Luita Phanit cum Hampai festival at the village public ground.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, Hopingson lauded Loree Kaju for preserving the rich traditional culture of the community.
He said with the advent of Christianity in their society, their culture has been mixed with western culture and is gradually perishing adding that culture is our identity and it should be preserved for the future generation.
The inaugural function was also attended by TSL president Grace Shatsang as guest of honour while chairmen West Tangkhul and South Tangkhul, VP TNL seated on the dias.
