Imphal, January 28 2019:
Representatives of Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) and Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) met with the representatives of the State Government at the Chief Secretary's office today in connection with the ongoing ceasework strike of the associations.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, began from 3.30 in the evening but failed to reach a positive conclusion and as such another meeting was scheduled for 11 am tomorrow.
According to a reliable source, today's meeting was arranged after an invitation was sent to the presidents of the two associations from the Chief Secretary office.
During the meeting which was also attended by the Principal Secretary (Finance), Principal Secretary (GAD), Commissioner (Higher and Technical Education, Education -S), MSSA and MGSF representatives urged for fulfilment of the demands including payment of due 17 percent DA to which the State Government assured to make necessary arrangements to pay at the earliest.
However, as the two associations reasoned that the proposal of the State Government needs proper deliberation, a definitive conclusion was not reached at the meeting today and hence another meeting was scheduled at 11 am tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that dissatisfied with the failure of the State Government to fulfil the demands raised by MSSA, Secretariat employees had taken a two day mass casual leave protest on January 16 and 17.As the said protest failed to have any tangible impact, Secretariat employees went on an indefinite cease work strike from January 23, which led to numerous inconveniences and completely paralysed the Secretariat.
