28th KC Mallick Memorial Football Tournament kick-starts

The 28th KC Mallick Memorial Football Tournament kicked-off today at Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground in the presence of L Ranjit Kumar Singh, principal of Jiribam Higher Secondary School as chief guest.
The tournament organised under the aegis of All Jiribam Sports Association is featuring a total of 15 teams and will compete in the preliminary knock-out and quarter final knock-out stages before 4 teams advanced into the semi-final stage.
The opening match of the tournament saw Kuki Sporting Club (KSC) trounce Mirpur FC by 6-2 goals to set up next preliminary round date with Echel Club on January 31.It was an easy sweep for KSC as Rama scored thrice (5', 16', 20') including the opener while Seineo (22') scored a goal to make it 4-0 past Mirpur FC in the first half.
The onslaught continued in the second half as well with Emmanuel striking a goal in the 46th minute and Rama finding his fourth in the 48th minute for a comprehensive 6-0 lead.
Mirpur FC however made a late surge to pull back two goals through Diteak (49') and Joshia (51') before the game ended in 6-2 in KSC's favour.
New Life Club will play RYC in the next preliminary knock out round clash tomorrow.
