MODEL, YWC, AL-AMEEN, AKSDO win as MNCA U-19 tourney kicks off

Imphal, February 10 2024:
The 2nd MNCA Men's U-19 Tournament 2023-24 got underway as MODEL (Singjamei Chingamakha), YWC (Langthabal), AL-AMEEN (Lilong) and AKSDO (Khangabok) recorded wins on the opening day of the tournament on Saturday.
Riding on Suson Yanglem Singh's all-round performance, MODEL made a resounding start to their campaign with a 168-run victory over YPHUC (Lalambung Makhong) at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
Helped by a masterly knock of 145 by Suson Yanglem, MODEL piled up 306 after being dismissed in 36 overs.
Bisai Ningombam (22), Ronald Ningombam (19), Biyon Naorem (18), Nameirakpam Ramananda (16) and Chirom Chiran Meitei (10 not out) were other contributors to their total.
For YPHUC, who opted to field, Chirom Chiran Meitei claimed 4 wickets, Bishworaj Sharma picked up 2, and Irom Ishor took 1.MODEL then followed up with a brilliant bowling display to wipe out YPHUC's batting lineup in 28.1 overs for a paltry 138.Suson Yanglem Singh was the star performer with the ball as well, scalping 5 wickets.
Bisai Ningombam did his bit with 2 wickets, while Biyon Naorem, Kangjam Thoithoiba and Ronald Ningombam each bagged one in MODEL'S comprehensive victory.
In YPHUC's run chase, Lann Naorem scored 46, Bishworaj Sharma made 30 and Birbal Irom got 19 in vain.
YWC, meanwhile, recorded a dominant 63-run win over CYCLONE (Thangmeiband) in their match played at Model Hr.
Secondary & Oriental College Ground, Imphal.
Put in to bat, YWC were all out for 199 in 36.4 overs.
Seram Robinson (45), Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba (38), Yumnam Achouba Singh (36) and Heisnam Manikanta Singh (28) all made significant contributions to their innings.
For CYCLONE, Ronak Chaudhary was the chief destroyer with a haul of 6 wickets as Suraj Singh Meisnam snapped 2, with Aditya Das and Aribam Ronald Sharma taking one each.
In reply, CYCLONE fell short after being bowled out for 136 in 26.2 overs.
Efforts from their main run-getters Ronak Chaudhary (33), Shi-noj Khwairakpam (25) and Pukhrambam Hilbert Singh (21) were not enough.
Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba shone with the ball for YWC with 4 scalps, while Seram Robinson impressed with 3 wickets, Heisnam Manikanta Singh picked up 2, and Sorokhaibam Dailish Singh took one for the win.
Al-Ameen beat PTCC (Patsoi Part III) by 41 runs at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-Ill Cherapur, Thoubal.
Asked to bat, Al-Ameen garnered 206/10 in 29.1 overs with contributions from Imanur (49), Imanur (42), Naeem Ahamad (27), Md Abdul Kayum (21) and Md Ziour Rahman (12).Al-Ameen then stopped PTCC's chase at 165/9 to make a winning start in their campaign opener.
Naeem Ahamad snapped 3 wickets, Md Ziour Rahman and Mohd Sagir Ahamed took 2 each, and Umar bagged one in their team's win.
For PTCC, Dhirendakishore Naorem (46), Bush Sagolsem (15), Yaiphaba Ningombam (14) and Daniel Mangang (13) were the main run-getters in their run chase.
Earlier, Karnajit Mayanglambam and Naoshekpam Kiran Meitei snapped 3 wickets each while Venison Yumnam got one for PTCC.
AKSDO defeated RCA (Lilong) by 14 runs at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
Electing to bat, AKSDO were bundled out for 92 in 24.4 overs as Saikhom Lanchenba Meitei (27) and Bishorjit Mangang (12) got into double digits in their innings.
Aziz Mirza and Iliyas took 3 wickets each, while MD Danish Khan bagged 2, and Zamir Khan and Naesh Hussain got one each for RCA.
Despite their dismal innings, KSDO bowled brilliantly to dismiss RCA for 78 in 18.5 overs, with Saikhom Kaiku Singh leading the assault with 5 wickets.
Laishram Nirash Singh and Rosan Laishram each took two wickets, with Akash Laishram adding one in their victory.
Only Md Safwan Ahamed (15), Md Imran Khan (12) and Zamir Khan (10) reached double figures in RCA's chase.
