Fast-track courts disposed 127 cases

Two fast-track special courts established in Manipur disposed 127 cases while 94 cases remain pending out of the total 221 cases taken up till December, 2023, stated a report of ministry of law and justice.
According to a report of the ministry tabled in the Lok Sabha by Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, two fast-track special courts were established in Manipur and both the courts are still functioning.
The two courts had taken up a total of 221 cases including e-POCSO cases till December, 2023 and disposed 127 cases while 94 cases are still pending.
The report also mentioned that a total of 17 fast-track special courts have been established in Assam and registered 10,186 cases till December, 2023 while 4979 cases have been disposed and 5207 cases remain pending in that state.
Among the other North Eastern states, a total five fast-track special courts are functioning in Meghalaya and disposed 382 cases out of the total 1443 cases registered till December, 2023 .
In respect of Mizoram, a total of three fast-track special courts and one e-POCSO court are functioning and disposed 169 cases out of 258 cases, registered till December, 2023.The lone fast-track special court estab-.
lished in Nagaland registered a total of 108 cases till December, 2023 and disposed 57 cases, the report mentioned, while adding that three fast-track special courts and one e-POCSO court are functioning in Tripura and disposed 349 out of 591 cases registered till December, 2023 .
According to the report, a total of 757 fast-track special courts and 411 e-POCSO courts have been opened in the country and a total of 2,14,463 cases out of the total 4,16,638 registered till December, 2023 disposed and 2,02,175 cases remain pending.
