Senapati, August 09 2026:
The Maring Students Union (MSU) has urged government and private schools under its jurisdiction, as well as officials and staff of government institutions, to refrain from attending the Indian Independence Day celebration at Moreh, citing the prevailing volatile situation and concerns over safety.
In a notification issued by its Information and Publicity wing, the MSU advised all concerned to exercise utmost caution and stated that anyone choosing to attend the event would do so at their own risk.
The union further said that any consequences or complications arising from such attendance would be the responsibility of the individual concerned.
It also appealed to officials to refrain from compelling, directing or pressuring school authorities, teachers, staff or other government employees to attend the celebration.
The MSU said the notification was issued in the public interest, keeping in view the prevailing situation and potential risks to the safety and well-being of students and government personnel.
It maintained that forcing individuals to participate under such circumstances could cause mental distress and expose them to unnecessary risks.
The union urged all concerned to act responsibly and prioritise the safety, security and well-being of students, teachers, officials and staff.
