Manipur rack up 20 gold medals on Day 3, lead medal tally

Manipur continued their stellar performance across wushu, archery, pencak silat and sepaktakraw, racking up 20 gold medals on the third day of the 3rd North East Games 2024 in Nagaland.
With the Day 3 results, Manipur dethroned hosts Nagaland to grab top spot in the medal standings.
Performances in wushu, archery, pencak silat and sepaktakraw yielded 20 gold, eight silver and eight medal bronze medals on Wednesday.
The state wushu athletes rounded off their remarkable campaign with six gold, two silver and two bronze medals on Wednesday at Sovima, Chumoukedima.
Y Arnold (-60kg), Th Malemngan-ba (65kg), L Boyton Singh (70kg), K Ichal Devi (-45kg), L Kalpana Chanu (48kg) and B Tamphasana (52kg) handed Manipur six gold medals.
In the men's finals, Arnold outdid Nupa Kiho of Nagaland, Malemnganba defeated Khwroamdao of Assam, and Boyton beat Kekhrieneieso of Nagaland in their respective categories.
In the women's summit clashes, Ichal got the better of Bijaya Rabha of Assam, Kalpana prevailed against H Roshini Devi of Assam, and Tamphasana outperformed Lalmuanzami of Mizoram.
On the other hand, both S Rohit (75kg) and K Bidyasagar Singh (80kg) settled for silver medal, while Ng Hrangaolou and M Wangba bagged bronze medals as Manipur wrapped up their champaign in wushu with 10 medals.
In archery, Manipur kicked off their medal count with a bang, winning four gold, three silver and three bronze at NAP ground, Chumoukedima.
In the individual compound event, M Bikram Singh (men's 50m) and Ksh Malemsana Devi (women's 50m) clinched gold medals for the state, while L Rojina Devi secured the yellow metal in the women's Indian round event, and T Sen Meitei won the men's recurve event to give Manipur four gold medals on Wednesday.
P Lily Chanu (compound), L Shilheiba (Indian round) and N Subhachandra Meitei (recurve) earned silver medals.
The state also collected three bronze medals through L Yuhenba Singh (compound), W Malesori Devi (Indian round) and Y Anupama Devi (recurve).
In pencak silat, Manipur added three more gold medals, one silver and two bronze on Day 3 of the Games.
Both P Victor (55-60kg) and S Pari Singh (65-70kg) won gold medal in the men's tanding event as S Sophia (60-65kg) claimed the top podium honour in the women's tanding event.
Y Kiran Singh took silver medal in the men's tanding 50-55kg category, while A Sarjubala (65kg) and N Premita (70-75kg) got bronze medals in the women's tanding.
It was a productive day for Manipur as well in sepaktakraw, winning four gold medals.
Meanwhile, Manipur were assured of at least 15 bronze medals after seven boxers in the men's competition and eight in the women's group sealed semifinal berths.
