Workshop on use of digital designing tools held

Under the PM-DevINE Project-Digital Design and 3D Printing Centre of Excellence in the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC); RIMS Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) along with AMTRON, North Eastern Council, MDoNER, organised a workshop at RIMS seminar hall on 'Use of Digital Designing Tools' and '3D printing' to provide custom designed prosthetics and orthotics devices to patients in need.
Among others, the workshop held on Wednesday in the presence of RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma and PMR head Dr L Nilachandra Singh, among others, commenced with a thorough demonstration on below knee amputation scanning, followed by conversion of raw images into precise 3D models using advanced software.
Participants actively engaged in post-processing design work, refining 3D models to determine optimal pressure distribution for prostheses, thereby enhancing comfort and functionality.
In addition to the demonstrations, all attendees were provided with hands-on experience, allowing them to directly manipulate and interact with the 3D models.
The workshop also provided attendees with invaluable insights into the latest advancements in prosthetic design and manufacturing using Industry 4.0 Technologies, facilitated by the expertise and guidance of Dr L Nilachandra Singh and attended by professionals from various levels and specialties within the fields of PMR and sports medicine.
