Lawyers briefed on quality service, compensation scheme

Imphal, March 20 2024:
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) in coordination with High Court Legal Services Authority organised a state level capacity building programme for panel and retainer lawyers on Wednesday at the High Court of Manipur, here.
The inaugural session of the programme conducted under the theme 'Providing quality legal aid and the Manipur compensation scheme for women victims/survivors of sexual assault and other crimes, 2023' was attended by High Court chief justice Siddarth Mridul, MSLSA executive chairman justice Ahanthem Bimol, High Court Legal Services Authority chairman justice Aribam Guneshwar Sharma and Manipur Judicial Academy director justice Kh Nobin as presidium members.
Chief justice Siddarth Mridul explained about the motto of legal services institutions in his speech at the inaugural session of the programme, while resource persons of the event retired District and Sessions judge U Koul Singh talked on the topic 'Providing quality legal aid in Manipur', and Manipur State Legal Services Authority member secretary Alek Muivah elaborated on 'the Manipur compensation scheme for women victims/survivors of sexual assault and other crimes, 2023' as N Lanleima responded to queries of panel lawyers and retainer lawyers.
The programme was also attended by Manipur State Legal Services Authority additional member Sorokhaibam Sadananda, deputy member secretary Rajshree Yambem and panel and retainer lawyers of MSLSA and High Court Legal Services Authority.
