Capacity building programme for panel lawyers & retainer lawyers conducted

Imphal, March 20 2024:
A State Level Capacity Building Programme for Panel Lawyers & Retainer Lawyers on the theme, "Providing Quality Legal Aid & Manipur Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/Survivorsof Sexual Assault/Other Crimes, 2023" was held today at the High Court of Manipur in Imphal.
The programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), said a release issued by MASLSA.
It was graced by Justice Siddharth Mridul, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur along with Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA; Justice Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, Chairman, HCLSC and Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Director, Manipur Judicial Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Siddharth Mridul stressed on the motto of legal services institutions i.e., to provide free and competent legal aid & services and how best could legal services institutions serve the people in need.
Resource persons U Kol Singh, retired District & Sessions Judge and Member of the Monitoring & Mentoring Committee, MASLSA delivered a lecture on the topic, "Providing Quality Legal Aid in Manipur- scope & bottlenecks" while Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA elaborated on "Manipur Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault/Other Crimes, 2023".N Lanleima, Presiding Officer, Revenue Tribunal/ MACT, Manipur; Sorokhaibam Sadananda, Additional Member Secretary, MASLSA; and Rajshree Yambem, Deputy Member Secretary, MASLSA also attended the event.
The programme was participated by panel lawyers & retainer lawyers empanelled with MASLSA, District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) & HCLSC.
