Governor meets postal, BSM teams; releases book

North East Postal Circle chief postmaster general Mariamma Thomas along with 11 others called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday highlighting the uninterrupted services rendered by the postal department amid the ongoing impasse in the state since May 3, 2023.In a release, PRO Raj Bhavan informed that the team discussed challenges faced in transportation and delivering of parcels/mails in sensitive areas.
Informing that the delivery of parcels in sensitive areas is done with the assistance of Assam Rifles and other central forces,-the team also mentioned their activities mainly banking services for the people taking refuge in relief camps in the state.
In response, the Governor assured assistance from her office for the smooth functioning of the postal services and encouraged them to continue their dedicated services in the interest of the people.
The release further stated that Akhil Bharatiya Sangath-an mantri BR Shankaranand along with four Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM), Manipur Prant called on Anusuiya Uikey on Wednesday evening and briefed her on their activities in the field of education mainly on the research and intellectuals aspects.
Mentioning their initiatives in the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP), the team further informed the Governor on their continuous service for the students and children in relief camps.
The Governor encouraged the team to reach out to the students in relief camps so as to ensure all these children are not deprived of their educational rights.
Meanwhile, Governor Anusuiya Uikey attended the release function of a book entitled 'Shri Shri Govindajee Gi Phijol (Vesh)' written by Pukhrambam James Singh of Manipur University of Culture and Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak (MP) professor Shukhdeba Sharma Hanjabam on Wednesday at Shri Shri Govindajee Temple Complex, Imphal.
The function was jointly organised by Shri Shri Govindajee Board, JN Manipur Dance Academy and Intellectual Forum of North East (IFNE), Manipur, informed the Raj Bhavan PRO.
Addressing the gatherings, Anusuiya Uikey lauded efforts of the authors in publishing the book in illustrated colours depicting the costumes worn on various occasions by Shri Shri Govindajee who is worshiped as the supreme deity by Gaudiya Vaishnavas.
Governor Anusuiya appreciated that the book contained beautiful attires of Shri Shri Govindajee, which she attribute to gradual cultural evolution under the Maharajas (Kings) of Manipur since the reign of Rajshri Bhag-yachandra.
She further said that the costumes also reflect Manipur's rich tradition of textiles and advanced knowledge of dyeing various indigenous plants, herbs, trees, etc.
The release also stated that the Governor took part in the Gwal Aarti at the Temple after the function along with Manipur University VC Naorem Lokendro Singh, Manipur University of Culture VC Paonam Gunindro, Dhanamanjuri University VC Nongmaithem Rajmuhon Singh and Shri Shri Govindajee Temple Board member S Tarun Kumar Sharma among others.
