Anganwadi body suspends strike plan

Imphal, March 20 2024:
After an understanding reportedly arrived at with authorities of Social Welfare Department, Manipur Anganwadi Mahila Organisation (MAMO) announced its decision to suspend the proposed strike.
In a release, MAMO lauded the department officials for formally assuring to the organisation to positively consider its demands.
It also extended gratitude to all Anganwadi workers, helpers and mini workers for their support to the organisation.
A letter issued by Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam to MAMO conveyed that no recruitment shall be finalised or the results declared during imposition of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, even though application forms may be collected in case the notification was issued prior to enforcement of the MCC.
Regarding the demands of MAMO, the director assured of taking necessary actions once the MCC is lifted.
