Imphal, December 24 2023: Laikhuram Jagat and M Thoungamba scored half centuries and skipper Johnson Lai picked four wickets to earn YWC-Patsoi a huge win 137 run victory over YPHUC-Lalambung Makhong in a Group C match of the 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy.

After winning the toss at Lairenjam Public Ground and opted to bat first.

They racked up 216 runs for 4 wicket and held YPHUC to 79 all out within 12.3 overs to seal the first win after their first game defeat to UCC.

YWC lost Khedabarth for 15 in 3.2 overs but Ashiskumar 34 and L Jagat 59 off 35 balls forged 94-runs for the second wicket partnership before Thoungamba M anchored with a 26-ball 58 by clobbering 9 fours and 1 six.

The innings saw Ksh Rishi and Bishworaj Sharma of YPHUC claiming a wicket apiece.

In reply, YPHUC had a stuttering start with Nickel Loukrakpam and Shitaljit Wangkhem removing the openers to reduce them to 7/2 within 7 balls of the innings.

After Irom Ishor departed on run out, Ashiskumar removed Ksh Rishi for the fourth wicket before Johnson Lai got rid of M Thomas 19 and Abdul Kaif in the fourth and the last delivery of the 8th over to make it 60/6 .

Johnson went on to claim two more wickets to finish with the best figures of 4/2 in 2 overs as Devachandra and Jagat also chipped in wicket a wicket apiece to set up YPHUC collapse at 79 .

Meanwhile, YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai cruised to third Group A victory with a thrilling 4 run victory over IBSA-Yumnam Leikai.

Put in to bat first, YUCC had amassed 134 runs for 7 wickets thanks to Laishram Bidyashwor's unbeaten 47 and Ningthoujam Thoibi 45 but IBSA ended up gathering 130 runs for 6 despite Yengkhom Bhomendro's 31-ball 40 .

In the YUCC innings, Boney Potshangbam 3/17 and Nelson Keithellakpam 2/20 played pivotal role in hindering strike rate.

IBSA however kept losing wickets in regular intervals and were reduced to 73/4 in 13 overs before Yengkhom Bhomendro led the scoring with Azmad Kh 20 not out.

Somraj of YUCC however removed Bhomendro on 40 and Pravesh 1 in the 18th over to make it 113/6 .

IBSA required 22 runs in 12 balls but could muster only 17 runs to go down by 4 runs.

Somraj finished with the best figures of 3/16 as Kadamjit Moirangthem returned with 2/20.In another Group A match staged at Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy, SSU-Singjamei Kakwa who suffered first game loss to WYC, sealed a huge 7-wicket over KCDO-Kongpal.

SSU held KCDO to 123/9 as the latter opted to bat first courtesy Saikhomba Thongam (3/22) and Sougrakpam Doughlas (2/17) and rode on Anand Mangang 34, Sh Deepankar Sharma 41 not out and N Sanjoy 20 to finish off the chase in 18.2 overs with 7 wickets left to spare.

Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, KASC-Khomidok ended their two games losing run by securing a 36-run victory over CDCC-Sagolband Salam Leikai thanks to Md Fajiruddin's exceptional bowling performances (6/13 in 4 overs) .

KASC added a lowly total of 138 runs for 8 wickets as CDCC's Mutum Jodiba 3/26 and Mandingbam Surjit 2/26 gave them a tough time.

The the total however proved too big for CDCC as Md Fajiruddin wreaked havoc with a six wicket haul and Qurshid picked two wickets (2/24) despite Priyojit Narengbam adding 47 off 51 balls.

For KASC, Md Shahir Khan 25,Qurshid Alam 21 not out and Md Javed Aktar 20 were main run getters.
