Minister pitches for aiding women SHGs

Health & family welfare minister Dr S Ranjan said that providing financial support to Self-Help Groups will enhance the economic empowerment of women, and it is also a way towards bringing financial discipline to the society.
The minister was speaking as chief guest on the occasion of the 1st Foundation Day of the Lamjing Meira Village Level Federation (VLF) held at Loyalakpa community hall, Khaidem in Imphal West on Sunday.
He said, "We all need to have financial discipline.
Self-Help Groups occupy an important place in the country and its popularity is gaining momentum.
In the state, women play an important role in improving the economy.
Banks in the state should not hesitate to provide financial help to SHGs" .
Dr Ranjan continued that the government is working towards the welfare of the people and cooperation is required to bring a positive changes.
Emphasising the need to act according to the prevailing scenario in the state, he said that the government launched the 'War on Drugs' to save the future generations from the impact of drug trafficking and abuse.
He informed that the Government is working for the welfare and development of the state and its people even during the crisis period.
The minister also cautioned the public about the increasing number of new COVID cases in some southern states, and added that the state health department is gearing up for preventive care to fight any resurgence in the state.
