Imphal, December 24 2023:
Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT)/Anal Naga Students' Union, Chakpikarong Branch has drawn the attention of authorities concerned to pressing concerns in Chakpikarong, Chandel district.
Contending that negligence by the government authorities has resulted in a cascade of issues affecting the community's well-being, ALT Chakpikarong Branch president RT Sainial said construction of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chakpikarong, which initially brought hope to the community, has unfortunately fallen victim to poor quality.
Despite the anticipation surrounding its development, the building's compromised construction does not meet the essential standards.
The people of Chakpikarong, disheartened by the neglect endured over the years, witnessed the initiation of the building's construction with optimism, only to find its quality lacking, it lamented.
ALT undertook an initiative to inspect the building's quality and discovered significant defects, including cracking walls and use of substandard materials.
This compromises the safety and integrity of the health centre, demanding immediate investigative and corrective actions, it emphasised.
The Union continued that adding to the community's challenges is the incomplete road construction from Chakpikarong to Challong Lamkhai and Chakpikarong to Thorcham.
The unfinished state of the road not only disrupts connectivity but also poses safety risks for residents.
Equally concerning is the lack of maintenance for the already completed segments, further exacerbating the road's deteriorating condition, it noted, while adding, timely attention from the relevant authorities is imperative to both finish the pending construction and address the critical issue ot neglected maintenance.
This dual aspect of the road infrastructure demands urgent intervention for the safety and convenience of the community.
ALT also pointed out that the un-operational status of SBI Chakpikarong Branch for over seven months is causing severe inconvenience to the residents.
The lack of banking services hampers financial transactions, hindering economic activities and creating a sense of insecurity among the community members.
This prolonged downtime demands an inquiry into the reasons behind the operational halt and swift measures to reinstate banking services, it further demanded.
