Imphal, December 24 2023:
The State Government has been urged to declare the results of recruitment of 88 posts of Assistant Professors and 169 non-teaching staff for Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) at the earliest.
The interviews for the recruitment were held in June 2022 .
A press statement, jointly issued by Manipur International Youth Centre, Nupi Union for Peace and Integrity and Women's United Development Organisation, Manipur, said the Dhanamanjuri University has only the Vice-Chancellor as a regular employee.
The University is currently run by the Vice-Chancellor, along with an Ex-Officio Registrar and an Ex-Officio Finance Officer.
The Controller of Examinations and Deputy Controller of Examinations are also in-charge.
While all the current staff are engaged, shortage of manpower has affected the functioning of the University, said the organisations.
They said, the interviews for selection of the 88 posts of Assistant Professor and 169 non-teaching staff (including Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Deputy Finance Officer) were done in June 2022 .
To declare the results of the recruitment, all files concerned were sent to the Government's Department of Personnel seeking concurrence in 2022.However, the concurrence sought has not been given till date.
Notably, on January 13 this year, the Higher and Technical Education Department had issued a press release stating it was taking up efforts to declare the pending results of the recruitment "soon" .
All the while the DMU's recruitment results have not been declared, the results of recruitment of 31 posts of Assistant Professor for Manipur Technical University were declared in October 2022.The 31 Assistant Professors of the MTU have joined their posts, they said.
To stay and flourish as a University, DMU must get UGC's 12(B) status.
DMU can never get this status if it has no adequate regular teaching and non-teaching staff, said the organisations.
The University may get blacklisted if it continues without proper regular staff.
The results of the recruitment must be declared at the earliest for the welfare of the University, students and the State as a whole, they added.
The organisations urged Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar to take immediate steps to declare the results.
