Mema Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket : LCCC, KCC progress into quarters from Group B

LCCC, Lilong Chajing and KCC, Kongba confirmed their places in the quarterfinals of the ongoing 1st Khomdram (O) Hijam Mema Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament as Group B winners and runners up.
LCCC finished Group winners as they crushed UCC-Red, Uripok by 49 runs for three of three Group stage victories this afternoon at Langthabal Public Ground.
LCCC raised a commanding total of 168 runs for 8 wickets courtesy of a half century from Rustum (61 off 39 balls) and Srinivas (41) before Akbar (3/23 in 4 overs) and Jinta (3/26 in 4 overs) combined well to share 6 wickets and restricted UCC-Red to 119/7 to seal the third straight victory.

For UCC, Ramesh (2/18) and Nandakumar (2/21) picked two wickets apiece as Dilip, Jayenta and Romesh claimed one wicket each before their chase came crashing down at 119 despite Romesh's late 32 and having three wickets left to spare.
Rustum of LCCC who starred with a quickfire 61 was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier in the day, KCC thumped YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai by 22 runs for the second win and to secure the runners up spot.
They won the toss, elected to bat first and posted 144 for all wickets down in 19.1 overs.
The total however was more than enough for the Kongba team to seal the victory as YUCC batters could amass 122 runs for 8 wickets in the chase.
Kiran shone with his bat for KCC adding the highest 66 off 48 balls in their innings which saw Manikumar (4/14) and Santosh (3/6) sharing 7 crucial wickets to set up the KCC batting implode.
In reply, Noushad Ali 35 and Santosh 15 gave YUCC a promising start but faltered midway and were in a spot of bother before Rabi 18, Tomba 17 and Somorjit 10 gave a late hope.
Despite their efforts they ended up adding 122 to their tally by the close of the innings and eventually finished third in the league standing.
Kiran of KCC was declared man of the match.
CYCLONE will play ESU in a crucial Group A match tomorrow morning before leaders Model Club take on UCC-Blue later in the last Group A tie.
