Poppy plants destroyed, 4 held for power theft

Imphal, March 06 2024:
Security forces destroyed 25 acres of poppy plantation in south eastern hill range near Langka Liangmai village under Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.
According to daily update of Police Control Room, a case has been registered for further investigation.
On the other-hand, a team of Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) comprising officials and staff members conducted drive/raid in different areas and apprehended four people involved in power theft.
In a release, MSPDCL general manager Ng Kirankumar informed that officers and staffers of MSPDCL conducted awareness programme cum raid in different areas in Bishnupur on Tuesday and Wednesday.
During the raid, four people including three from Bishnupur sub-divisions and one from Yairipok sub-division were rounded up for unauthorised connection and other malpractices including power theft, said the general manager, urging public to refrain from such unethical acts.
