Imphal, March 06 2024:
Manipur DGP Rajiv Singh has urged his Nagaland counterpart Rupin Sharma to provide adequate security to Mao community residing in Nagaland in view of a statement by Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) asking the Mao people to return to their native villages.
In a letter address to Rupin Sharma on Wednesday, the Manipur DGP pointed out that SAPO in press release issued Wednesday directed the people of Mao community residing in Angami jurisdiction within Nagaland to return to their respective native village, for failing to vacate and withdraw the Manipur security force stationed at Dzuko Valley.
"This development is causing concern and panic among the Mao community residing in Manipur and Nagaland.
As such, I would request you to kindly take appropriate action in this regard and also to provide adequate security to the people of Mao community residing in Nagaland," he said.
