Imphal, November 02 2026:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has categorically rebutted all attempts to draw any form of equivalence between Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen.
While unequivocally condemning all forms of killings irrespective of community, a strongly-worded rejoinder issued by the UNC against what it described as Kuki lies campaign and victim-card politics has dismissed what it terms "blatant lies, propaganda, and deliberate misinformation" .
The UNC has dismissed the Committee on Tribal Unity's (CoTU) demands for the removal of Losii Dikho from the post of Deputy Chief Minister as "totally unfounded, politically motivated and an attempt to deflect from the truths" .
The council stated that Losii Dikho has been tirelessly working for the welfare of the public and the restoration of peace irrespective of communities.
The UNC asserted that Losii Dikho's position cannot be equated with that of fellow Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
According to the UNC, Nemcha Kipgen is the wife of KNF-P head Semtinthang Kipgen alias Thangboi, who is accused of being responsible for the Leilon Vaiphei massacre of six innocent Naga men.
Coming out in support of Naga legislators including Losii Dikho, the UNC maintained that Nemcha Kipgen should either step down or urge her husband's organization to cease fighting and killing Nagas.
The council described it as Constitutionally and morally untenable for someone whose immediate family heads an armed group linked to the massacre of innocent Naga men to hold the State's second-highest executive post, labelling demands for Losii Dikho's removal as a "classic diversionary tactic" .
The UNC has also dismissed the claims made by the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) regarding the Tazeikaiphun incident as completely false and fabricated.
According to the council, the reality was an unprovoked attack on a Naga village by Kuki armed militants lasting consecutively for three days starting October 29, 2026 .
During the resulting exchange of fire, three Kuki cadres were reportedly killed on October 31, 2026 .
The UNC has accused the opposing side of running a global propaganda campaign to portray themselves as victims attacked by Nagas.
The council insisted that the Nagas were not the perpetrators but the victims of Kuki aggression in Tazeikaiphun and other areas.
It said that the unfounded accusations against NSCN and ZUF-K are misleading.
Pointing out that the Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO) has questioned the circumstances surrounding the recovery of two bodies in Senapati district, the UNC has strongly condemned any manipulation of evidence or deliberate attempts to inflame communal tensions, calling for a transparent investigation to ensure accountability.
It raised concerns regarding the role of Additional SP (Law and Order) Senapati, Thangkhochon Haokip, stating that his impartiality in handling sensitive communal matters has been questioned due to his past handling of similar issues.
The council has flayed attempts to frame Nagas for the deaths without investigation, pointing to procedural lapses and biased behaviour by the officer as a dereliction of duty.
The UNC has further condemned the act of arson at T Khullen (belonging to Maram village), where several residential houses were reduced to ashes by an armed group of Kukis at around 3.30 pm on November 1, 2026 .
Saying that the arson occurred right under the nose of Central security forces and Kangpokpi police, the UNC has questioned the inaction of the security forces.
It further demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, along with appropriate compensation, relief, and rehabilitation for the affected villagers.
