Imphal, November 02 2026:
Accusing the Kuki militants groups under Suspension of Operations (SoO) of carrying out premeditated attacks on Naga villages, the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has sought action and accountability over Deputy Chief Minister's familial connection with the head of KNF(P), Thangboi Kipgen.
"It is a matter of public record and a documented fact that Thangboi Kipgen, husband of Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, heads the Kuki Militant outfit Kuki National Front, KNF (P).
The structural and familial connection between a sitting Deputy Chief Minister and the leadership of a SoO covered Kuki militant outfit constitutes clear patronage that enables violence against Nagas.
Such an arrangement is unacceptable and must be ended," said the NSF in a statement.
While Naga legislators have previously sought action over the connection between the Deputy CM and the head of the KNF(P), this concern has remained unaddressed, it said.
On the other hand, the NSF said that it firmly rejects the selective and unfounded targeting of Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho.
"He [Losii Dikho] has consistently advocated for peace, dialogue, and an end to violence as the only path forward for different communities to co-exist peacefully.
He has publicly condemned killings on both sides, without exceptions," the NSF said.
"The SoO agreement must not become a shield for continued violence against Naga communities or encroachment on Naga ancestral lands," it said, urging the Governments to abrogate SoO pact immediately.
