Guwahati, June 16, 2010:
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), it was learnt, rushed 22 companies of central para military forces to Nagaland and Manipur to ensure the safe movement of vehicles on National Highway 39.Meanwhile, the deadlock surrounding the blockades in Manipur continued after the All Naga Students' Association of Manipur (ANSAM) stuck to its guns, refusing to suspend its agitation even as the Centre has decided to use force to end the blockade.
Some Manipur-bound vehicles travelling from Assam had rolled into Nagaland via National Highway 39 on Tuesday moments after the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) in Nagaland had lifted its ban of Manipur registered vehicles in Nagaland.
However, the vehicles remained stranded at a place along Nagaland-Manipur border following continuance of the ANSAM-sponsored blockade within Manipur.
