While claiming that the two persons shot dead by a team of Thoubal district (Sugnu) police commandos at around 5.30 pm of June 12 near Wangoo Sandangkhong Litan were its cadres, the Kuki Revolutionary Army (U) rejected police contention that the deceased duo were involved in the abduction of a road mohoror (mohori).
A KRA (U) release issued by the armed group's general secretary W Linkon said Ningthoujam Hemanta alias Jack s/o (L) N Tomba of Pangaltabi Mamang Leikai and Huidrom Bijen alias Naoba s/o (L) H Ibomcha of Kwasiphai were assigned a particular task by the party high command when the unfortunate incident took place.
The outfit also enlisted one 9 mm pistol with 14 rounds and a .32 pistol with five rounds as weapons carried by the two.
