In connection with ADC election, District Information Officer (DIO) of Tamenglong Khaidem Bhogendra was abducted and beaten up by some unidentified persons on the night of June 13. The officer was reportedly called out from the Officers' Hostel located near Tamenglong Medical Gate by 5/6 unidentified persons at around 7.30 pm on June 13. A resident of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, 45-year old Bhogendra has been posted and working at Tamenglong district headquarters as DIO for around 15 years now.
Talking to mediapersons in connection with the incident at his Uripok residence today, Bhogendra recounted that he was staying in the Officers' Hostel when around 5/6 unidentified persons came and called him out.
The unidentified persons, who were not armed, dragged him inside in a white Gypsy and drove till the vicinity of Don Bosco School.
From the moment he was dragged inside the Gypsy till it stopped near Don Bosco School, the unidentified abductors beat him up.
They also charged him with partially in the process of ADC election, Bhogendra said.
In the second phase of the ADC election held in Tamenglong district, Bhogendra was in charge of arranging and despatching of the polling personnel.
Unable to bear the blows of the unidentified, Bhogendra lost consciousness and the unidentified persons left him there.
When he regained consciousness, Bhogendra managed to walk to his place and from there fellow hostellers admitted him to Tamenglong district hospital.
His head had to be stitched and he had also undergone further treatment at RIMS Hospital.
