Imphal, June 16, 2010:
At least one person was killed while five others sustained injuries when a Tata Magic, which was a part of marriage party, met with an accident at Changangei along Imphal-Churachandpur Road yesterday evening.
According to police report, the Tata Magic bearing registration number MN-04A/4642 was Kwakta where its occupants participated in a marriage ceremony when it rammed into the road median at around 7.30 pm yesterday.
In the incident, one Md Aslam Khan alias Hakim (25) s/o Moulvi Muhaiyuddin of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Leitanpokpi sustained serious injuries.
He was rushed immediately rushed to RIMS for treatment, but succumbed to the injuries enroute.
Aslam was said to be recruit in the Manipur Police who was undergoing training at Manipur Police Training School at Pangei.
After his pass out from the training, he went to participate in the marriage ceremony.
Five other passengers also sustained injuries in the incident.
Their condition are stated to be not serious.
Meanwhile, the body of Aslam has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.
Along with registering a case, Lamphel police have started an investigation into the matter.
