Imphal, June 16, 2010 After more than two weeks of stalemate, Moulvi Atao Rahman, the elected member of 8-Ngaiyumpham Zilla Parishad has been elected as Adhyaksha of Thoubal Zilla Parishad.

The election of a new Adhyaksha was held on Jun 14.Presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Atao was elected Adhyaksha uncontested.

Out of the 15 Zilla Parishad members, 9 of them supported Atao.

Former Adhyaksha Md Abdul Latif did not file any application to contest in the election.

On April 17 last, a no confidence motion had been moved against Latif.

After several rounds of proceedings, Atao was finally elected the new Adhyaksha.
