Eastern Command visits state

Imphal, February 10, 2011:
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC accompanied by Lieutenant General NK Singh, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps arrived in that yesterday on a two day visit.
The Army Commander reviewed the security arrangements in the state and was briefed by Major General DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding 57 Mountain Division at Leimakhong.
He lauded the efforts of the soldiers in fighting militancy in the state in a professional manner in the true traditions of the Army and also appreciated their commitment to help the people of the state through various military civic action projects, a statement of the PIB (DW), Imphal said today.
He also complemented the �Red Shield Division� for their efforts in contributing towards peace in the state of Manipur.
The Army Commander left for Dimapur today, it added.
