Attempt to murder a 15 year old boy

Imphal, February 10, 2011:
A 15-year student kidnapped by unidentified persons was found thrown into the Imphal river underneath the Bashikhong bridge this after noon.
Phandom Dhanaraj son of Rajen of Thongju part-II was abducted by the unidentified persons on his way home after his exams in the Catholic School, Canchipur.
He was badly beaten up.
The boy said that he was abducted around noon when he was going together with a girl student of SI Boarding School whom he met on the way.
When they reached Ningombam Leirak, three unidentified persons who were apparently waiting for him asked whether he was Dhanaraj.
They stopped him and asked the girl to leave.
He went with them upto Salam Kona where another four persons on two motorcycles were waiting.
They forced him to pillion ride in one of the motorcycles and carried him upto the banks of the Imphal river at Bashikhong where they beat him up.
They stuffed a cloth in his mouth and he lost his consciousness.
When he came to his senses he found himself in the river.
While he was struggling to move away, some passersby came to his rescue and evacuated him to the RIMS hospital and also informed his family.
The family and the boy have no idea of the motive behind the attempted murder.
