Imphal, February 10, 2011:
Under its village electrification programme, Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) today inaugurated yet another wind-solar power project at Dollangkhunou (Khoiraok) village in Sadar Hills of Senapati district.
The installed capacity of the newly inaugurated hybrid power project is 10 KW, that is 5 KW each from wind and solar sector.
The installation of the project was completed and commissioned in mid December 2010, and generated power was supplied to the village since last Christmas.
But formal inauguration was delayed and held only today due to climatic and other difficulties.
With commissioning of the project, the villagers have been benefited with domestic lighting facility.
The project is owned and operated by the Village Energy Committee (VEC), constituted by the beneficiary villagers of the village.
Staff salary and other maintenance expenditures are to be met by collecting monthly charges from the consumers at a rate determined by the VEC.
It is said that the present power project will be able to supply power to about half of the total 175 households in the village with three CFL bulb each.
Process is underway for installation of another similar capacity project so as to enable coverage of 100 percent households of the village.
