KCP greets on MFL raising day

The proscribed KCP has greeted all the people including revolutionary groups of Kanglei- pak/Manipur, WESEA, women organisations.
CSOs, intellectuals, media, medical fraternity, actors, players and students on the 19th raising day of its armed wing, Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi (MFL) .
A statement issued by the outfit's Military Affairs Committee pointed out that August 13 is a very significant day for the people of Manipur.
It was on August 13, 1891 that many patriots were hanged to death by British colonial invaders, the outfit reminded before paying homage to all the patriots.
It also paid rich tributes to all the people who have laid down their lives in the course of the revolutionary movement as well as those village defence volunteers who achieved martyrdom while defending Kangleipak, fellow villagers and their properties.
The outfit conveyed solidarity to all the people who have been driven out from their homes.
Even after the conquest of Manipur, the British empire did not merge Manipur into their empire.
Instead, Maharaj Narasingh's grandson, Churachand Singh, then just five years old, was put on the throne on August 21, 1891 .
Until Churachand came of age and the State power was handed over to him on May 15, 1907, British officers administered Manipur as de facto sovereign, the outfit said.
Even though Churachand Maharaj was appointed president of the Manipur State Durbar, the sovereign power was shared between the king and British officers.
Churachand was removed from being president of the Manipur State Durbar in 1916 and one British ICS officer was made the president.
Nonetheless, the king remained the head of State administration.
Except for the president, all members of Manipur State Durbar were Manipuri natives, it said.
Subsequently, the task of administering the hill areas was taken over by the Durbar president.
Although the hill areas were administered by the Durbar president, the king was the custodian of the integrity of Manipur.
Moreover, the king had the power to veto decisions of the Manipur State Durbar, the outfit said.
Administration of the hill areas by the Durbar president did not affect the integrity of Manipur.
Nor did it imply creation of a parallel State out of Manipur.
The British officer (Durbar president) was only administering the hill areas on behalf of the king of Manipur, it continued.
It was the Manipur State Durbar which ruled both the hills and valley of Manipur.
There was no instance of any separate institution ruling the hill areas, it said.
By planting a dream of Zalengam, immigrant Kuki narco-terrorists have been fighting a proxy war against the Meiteis for the last three months.
Killing innocent unarmed civilians and burning down their houses are crimes against humanity, it said, adding that the attacks were pre-planned and pre-meditated.
The recent simultaneous attacks at Meitei villages from surrounding hills testified that it was a pre-planned offensive.
It was also evident in the personal diary of a Kuki militant leader which was recovered after driving out Kuki militants from Sugnu's Zou Veng, Nazareth and Kosophi areas, the outfit said.
It then asserted that the history of Manipur/Kangleipak is a collective history of all the communities and ethnic groups of the land.
The integrity of Manipur/Kangleipak should not be disturbed or challenged because of some vested interest on ethnic lines, it said.
Manipur is now being besieged by many new and unexpected challenges.
It is the duty of the present generation to face and overcome these challenges, it added.
