Committee denounces Govt for neglecting demands

While denouncing the negligence of the state government on implementing the demands made by Committee for Displaced Victims-Serou, Sugnu Area, the Committee has further appealed to the authorities concerned to implement the demands at the earliest.
The Committee had earlier demanded the state government to set-up an IRB/MR battalion post at Serou Lamkhai, rebuilt the houses that have been reduced to ashes by Kuki militants, allow formation of Village Volunteers Force Manipur to protect Meetei villages, establish security check posts at specific locations so as to safeguard the public from armed miscreants and to provide compensation to the victims and ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who were ' killed in the armed attack by Kuki militants.
In a release, Committee joint secretary K Bikram recalled that the displaced people of Serou; Sugnu, Napat, who have been left homeless after armed Kuki militants attacked their villages on May 28, and are taking refuge at Keirak Relief camp, took out a peace rally on June 20 up to the office of deputy commissioner of Kakching district and submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the DC demanding the above-mentioned demands.
The displaced people again staged a sit-in protest at Kakching Bazar demanding the same on July 17 and later submitted another memorandum to the Governor as well as the Chief Minister, the secretary recalled, while also condemning that despite repeated appeals the state government has remained non-responsive till date.
