Ukhrul, August 12 2023:
Former members of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) are all set to challenge the order granting permission to a lone BJP ADC former member to function as the Caretaker Chairman of the Council at the Supreme Court.
Briefing media persons in Ukhrul town today, former ADC members of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council expressed discontentment over the new order.
They further maintained that the above order is an act of discrimination against the tribals.
It may be noted that High Court of Manipur on August 8, 2023, granted an order allowing the former BJP ADC member, Mark Luithing to take the charge as the caretaker chairman of the Council.
The former Ukhrul ADC members stated that 'the Council is a democratic institution and must be free from all political interference' .
In view of the above, the former ADC members are all set to pursue the matter and challenge the same at the supreme Court for justice.
