Arms recovered, bunkers destroyed

Even as security forces continued search operations to recover arms and ammunition, they managed to destroy a few bunkers and occupied several in Kangpokpi district, said police.
Yesterday, search operations were conducted by a team of Kangpokpi police and Central forces at four locations in Kangpokpi district.
During the operations, the security forces destroyed four bunkers and occupied six other bunkers, said Manipur Police Control Room.
During search operations, security forces recovered 5 guns in the last 24 hours.
So far security forces have recovered a total of 1,100 arms and 13,702 ammunition and 250 bombs of different kinds.
Today, a combined team of the police and Central forces with Executive Magistrates conducted search operations at two locations in Imphal West.
While the situation is normal in most districts, it is tense in some districts with some sporadic incidents.
However, the situation is under control, said the police control room.
Yesterday, one warehouse at Kangla Sangomsang, under Heingang PS was set on fire by a mob.
Imphal East police dispersed the mob and fire service controlled the fire.
Incidents of arson took place at two other locations in Imphal East district.
State police and Central forces controlled the situation and dispersed the mob using a large number of tear gas/smoke shells.
Movement of essential items along NH-37 is ensured with strict security measures.
Curfew was relaxed for 12 to 15 hours in five valley districts, Pherzawl and Jiribam; 8 to 10 hours in Tengnoupal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi district.
There is no curfew in the remaining six hill districts, said the police control room.
To restore normalcy, district security coordinating committee meetings are held regularly and security forces are conducting patrolling, flag marches and cordon and search operations in vulnerable areas with special emphasis on fringe areas of both hill and valley districts, said the control room.
