Rich tributes paid to Khamenlok 'martyrs'

Rich floral tributes were paid to the nine 'martyrs' who laid down their lives during the Khamenlok incident during an event organised at Singjamei Keithel by Singjamei Ima Keithel Phi Yonpham on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Singj-amei Ima Keithel Phi Yonpham secretary Kangjam Mirabai lamented that the BJP gov ernment at the centre which campaigned hard to gain the people's trust in the run up to the elections has now turned its back to the people of Manipur as if the state is not a part of India.
While cautioning authority concerned of another Nupilal if the restive situation is contained, she stated that Meitei are peace loving people and what the Meiteis are doing now is only defending themselves against the armed Kuki militants.
As a mark of respect to the martyrs, clubs and meira pai-bi associations of Yairipok area also offered floral tributes to the departed souls at Yairipok Keithel on Saturday.
Women vendors of Wangkhem, Huidrom Leikai, Siphai Leikai, Bishnunaha, Bamol Leikai, Kekru Khoirom, Pechi, Malom, Chandrakhong, Kakmayai, Ningel, Phanjak-hong, Top, Chingtha Laima-nai, Yambem, Angtha, Poir oukhongjin, Huikap, Yairipok Tampha Keithel and Yairipok New Market took part in the function.
As a mark of respect to the nine martyrs of Khamenlok, floral tributes were also paid at Eramdam Kanba Lup office located at Lamboikhul and other areas including Wangoo, Serou, Phayeng, Sawombung, Lamlai, Sabungkhok, Nongpok San-jenbam, Sagolmang, Pukhao, Pangei, Khurai Heigrumak-hong, Kontha Ahallup, Takhel, Kakching Lamkai, Kakching Bazar, Wabagai Lamkhai, Lam-jao Yangdong, Thongjao, Waik-hong, Kakching Khunou, Wabagai Keirak and Langmeidong.
