Sit-ins demand SoO withdrawal, denounce PR demand

Sit-in demonstrations against invasion of Manipur by Chin-Zo-Kuki immigrants, demand for separate administration and ending the restive situation were organised in different parts of the state Dy various organisation on Saturday.
Heirangoithong Apunba Lup staged a sit-in at Heirangoithong bazaar to demand restoration of peace and normalcy, stopping narco-terrorism, implementation of NRC and protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Nupi Samaj president Th Ramani contended that armed Kuki militants and illegal Chin-Kuki immigrants from Myanmar are responsible for the turmoil in the state, scheming to replace N Biren as chief minister and imposition of President's Rule in.the state.
These demands of the Kukis should never be fulfilled and all the MLAs should unite and save the state from disintegration, she said.
She further informed that the armed Kuki militants are waging a war against the Meiteis to eradicate the Meitei community.
The central as well as the state government should take up necessary measures to stop such war and restore peace in Manipur.
The protestors used placards inscribed with words such as "Remove Assam Rifles from Manipur", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised" and "No two administrations in Manipur" .
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) also organised a sit-in demonstration in front of its office near Pologround here.
Speaking to reporters, MPP president Chingakham Shyamjai suggested that the government instead of building new houses for the displaced people should ensure safe stay at their respective villages.
It should fulfil the demands of the people for removal of AR from the state and prevent the armed Kuki militants from claiming ownership of abandoned Meitei villages, he said.
The protestors also shouted slogans like "Protect the territorial integrity of Manipur" among others.
Meanwhile, people of Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai in Imphal East staged sit in protest under the initiative of Bamon kampu Gram Panchayat demanding crackdown on armed Kuki militants and restoring peace in the state.
During the agitation also attended by Bamonkampu Zilla Parishad member Golmei Kachungna, Gram Panchayat Uppa Pradhan and members the participants held placards denouncing the demand for separate administration and to abrogate SoO with armed Kuki militants among others.
