Imphal, June 24 2023:
The explosive fitted Scorpio that exploded on Tiddim Road on June 21 injuring three children came from Churachandpur side and involvement of insurgents operating in the State and across the border is suspected, said State police today.
The case is being transferred to the NIA (National Investigation Agency), said Manipur Police Control Room.
The bomb fitted-Mahindra Scorpio was parked over a bridge on Tiddim Road between Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta.
It exploded, injuring three children and badly damaging some portions of the bridge.
While a suo-motu case was registered with the Phougakchao Ikhai police station under Explosives Substances Act and relevant section of Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act 1984, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle (Scorpio) came from Chura- chandpur side, said the police.
Three kids were injured in the blast.
Since involvement of insurgents operating in the State and across the border is highly suspected, the case is being transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the interest of National security, further said the police.
