JSB holds silent march for 108 Kuki-Zo souls

Paying tribute to 108 Kuki-Zo people killed so far in the ongoing violence, the Joint Students' Body (JSB) Lamka conducted a silent march cum condolence programme on Saturday.
Justice for the dead and delivering the long overdue justice to the Zomi-Kuki-Hmar-Mizo people were the main reasons for organising the tribute event, the joint students' body comprising ZSF, KSO, HYA, ZILLAI, ZSP, MZP, GSO and others said in a statement.
All Zomi-Kuki-Hmar-Mizo families, men and women, young and old, took part in event showcasing their respect for those who have sacrificed their lives and their solidarity toward the struggle for justice.
The event started with a silent march from district hospital through Red Cross road and then to Tlddim road and culminated at the 'Wall of Remembrance' opposite Tuibone mini secretariat.
After the march, a programme was held at the 'Wall of Remembrance' attended by leading tribal bodies, CSOs, and individuals.
All participants clad in black for the event formed human chain along the road while Village Defence Forces lined up as informed for the gun salute.
According to the JSB, at least 108 Kuki Zo people have been killed so far while 201 villages have been burned along with 355 churches and quarters.
Altogether 41,425 people to the Kuki tribes have been displaced till date.
Meanwhile, the Core Committee on Separate Administration Movement (CORSAM) expressed its appreciation to JSB for organising the coffin/silent march, which is a symbol and expression of grief for all those killed in the ongoing violence.
The CORSAM also appealed all Kuki-Zo people to reaffirm their resolve and stand united until materialisation of the demand for separate administration.
