Human chain formed; rally seeks end to narco-terrorism

Amid conduct of the all-party meeting at Delhi chaired by Union Home minister Amit Shah to facilitate discussions on the unrest situation in Manipur, thousands of women (meira paibi) came out to the street and formed human chains praying for restoration of peace in Manipur.
The human chain formed from Imphal East DC office till Top Khongnangkhong was participated by women folks under the jurisdiction of Oriental Youth Organisation, Top Youth Club, Public Club Top Khonsnang-makhong, Kongpal Youth Voluntary Organisation, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai Youtn Development Organisation, Kongpal Khaiaem Leikai Welfare Association, Oriental Pioneer Association, Social Athletic Club, Eastern Youth Development Association, Kongpal Social Development Organisation, North East Youth Development Organisation, Wakha Youth Club and EYCA and chanted slogans like "President's Rule cannot be imposed in Manipur" and "NRC should be implemented in Manipur at the earliest" .
The participants also observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect to those
who sacrificed their live for Manipur.
Taking part in the human chain agitation, one Sofia Athokpam expressed strong resentment over failure of the government authorities to restore peace and normal -cy in the state even after 50 days of the ethnic violence.
Meanwhile, Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) under the aegis of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) organised a protest rally against Chin-Kuki narco-terrorism in Imphal on Saturday.
The protestors began their march from Keishampat Leimajam Leikai but were stopped by police near the Paona International market.
From there, a five-member team was allowed to submit a memorandum to the Governor while the others were made to stay at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi community hall.
Interacting with the media, NIMPAL secretary general Soraisam Santile-ima decried the sustained violence despite the 15-day peace appeal made by union home minister Amit Shah during his state visit.
They demanded the government to terminate Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants.
Condemning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they asked the PM to stop his Mann Ki Baat if he is not willing to hear the voices of the public.
She further said that there shall be no two administrations in the state while demanding the government to implement NRC, stop proxy war and stop supporting narco-terrorism while seeking restoration of peace in the state.
