Imphal, November 05 2023:
PDA Chairman and Keirao AC MLA L Rameshwor has stated that the Meitei people must draw valuable lessons from the present conflict.
Rameshwor was speaking at a one-day conference on Sanamahism organised by the International Sanamahi Association, Imphal at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple complex, Haying Khongbal.
Given the sheer number of forces/elements which are inimical to the collective interest of Manipur, all the youngsters must work relentlessly to gather as much knowledge and wisdom from the elders.
At the same time, all the able-bodied persons, both men and women, must get arms and combat training, he said.
"We need to work harder without wasting time.
Even if there are differences amongst us, we must sort them out peacefully and amicably if the Meitei community must march ahead on the path of progress and development", Rameshwor said.
He called upon all the Meitei people to shoulder the collective responsibility of further refining the concept and practices of Sanamahism and promote it at the international level.
The MLA also expressed keen desire to publish a holy book of Sanamahism just as other religions have their own holy books.
The younger generations should be taught the concept and practices of Sanamahism in a comprehensive manner, he said.
Noting that there are many priceless books on and related to Sanamahism, the MLA urged the organisers of the conference to publish a comprehensive compilation of these books.
"Let us make sure that the world knows the beauty of Sanamahism and understand its philosophy", he said.
MU, Department of History, HoD Prof H Sudhir moderated the conference where Luwang Nongshum Sang, Manipur executive member Longjamba Sanathoi presented a paper on the growing need for establishment of an ultimate authority on Sanamahism.
GP Women's College Associate Prof Dr Waikhom Romesh spoke on the role of people's names and Meiteilon in popularising Sanamahi faith.
