Imphal, November 05 2023:
The National People's Party (NPP) has categorically stated that the Kuki MLAs and Ministers still supporting the BJP Government even after openly demanding disintegration of Manipur is ridiculous.
Speaking to the media at Naoremthong today, NPP National vice president Y Joykumar said that the Kuki MLAs and Ministers not willing to give up their position despite being a major player in the separatist movement of Kukis show their contradictory standard.
Joykumar, on the other hand, lauded Chief Minister N Biren for launching a massive search operation at Moreh soon after the killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand Kumar by a sniper of Kuki militants on October 31 and said it was the right thing to do.

He, however, condemned the joint statement issued by 10 Kuki MLAs including seven of the BJP on November 2 which 'blindly' accused the State police of robbing properties and molesting and assaulting people of their community during the search operation.
The claim that State police robbed properties, burnt houses and assaulted civilians during the search operation has been rejected by the Assam Rifles too, Joykumar continued and maintained that the search operation is being carried out only to arrest the persons involved in killing SDPO Anand Kumar.
Among the Kuki MLAs is former DGP LM Khaute too and he at least must be aware of what combined operation is and that Manipur police is not a Meetei centric force, Joykumar said and asked what LM Khaute was doing when he was DGP if State police is communal as they claim.
There still are many top officials of State police from Kuki community too, he said and reminded that the State police took maximum actions against Meetei insurgent groups at one time.
It was because of the State police that there was some semblance of peace ahead of the May incident, he reasoned and added that State police is a composite force and not communal as claimed by Kukis.
The team of police which prevented the entry of NSCN (IM) leader Muivah during the tenure of Congress was led by senior officer Kailun and it included other Kuki officers such as Clay Khongsai, Themthing etc, he added.
The 10 Kuki MLAs should play a key role in working out a solution to the crisis instead of stoking the violence as the same has taken a heavy toll on every Manipuri since May 3, he reasoned.
It however is unfortunate that the Kuki MLAs still make irresponsible comments by disregarding the suffering of the people and the same can aggravate the violence, the NPP leader cautioned.
Saying that the Kuki MLAs only want to defame the State forces and the Government by spreading lies, the NPP leader asked why the Kuki MLAs are still supporting the BJP Government if they are unhappy with their policy and programme.
They should resign if they want separate administration for Kuki people and are displeased with the BJP Government, he said referring to the Kuki MLAs.
It is ironic that the Kuki MLAs still don't want to give up their position but at the same time demand disintegration of Manipur, he said and added that their (the Kuki MLAs) contradictory stand clearly shows they are unfit to be elected representatives.
The press briefing was also attended by NPYF president L Jayananda and general secretary L Rameshwor.
