Camp inmates trained on sustainable livelihood

A three-day hands-on training was conducted during the "30 days' Skill cum Vocational Training Programmes for Rejuvenating Livelihoods of Inmates in Relief Camps" at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Imphal West district.
The training programme, which commenced on November 3 and concluded on Sunday (Nov 5), was organised by the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong & Ukhrul in collaboration with the State Rural Livelihood Mission and Imphal West district administration.
The training covered food processing, beekeeping, vermicomposting, ornamental fishery, poultry, floral production, pig farming, and credit linkage and farmers.
Participating in the training programme were 154 displaced persons at the Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief camp.
During the technical session, Dr S Roma Devi, SMS (home science) and Dr Y Rabhabati Devi conducted a hands-on training programme on food processing and post-harvest management of locally available fruits and vegetables.
Dr A Ameeta Devi (head KVK Chandel) gave training on pig rearing, while Dr S Sin-yorita, SMS (animal science), trained on poultry farming, Dr N Ajitkumar Singh, SMS (plant protection), on beekeeping, Dr Ch Premabati Devi, scientist (horticulture) and L Basil gave hands-on training on floriculture, S Gunamani Singh, SMS (plant breeding) and Konsam Sarika, scientist (plant breeding) conducted training on seed production, N Peetambari Devi, scientist (fishery), W Anand Meetei, scientist (fishery) and Dr Ch Basudha Devi, principal scientist (fishery) imparted hands-on training on ornamental fishery and Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, senior scientist (agri economic) lectured on credit linkage with farmers.
Dr N Ajitkumar Singh, SMS (plant protection), Dr S Sinyorita, SMS (animal science) and Dr I Bhupenchandra Singh, SMS (soil science) ICAR- KVK, Manipur Centre, oversaw the 30-day skill & vocational training programme, which was conducted under the guidance of Dr Ramgopal Laha, head of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, according to press release of ICAR RC Manipur Centre.
