Last rites of Lilong firing victims performed

The last rites of the five victims who were killed in the tragic incident of Lilong Chingjao firing on January 1 was held today.
The funeral ceremony was held after the State Government agreed to materialise the demands raised by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the incident.
The bodies of the five victims were brought from JNIMS morgue to Lilong Chingjao Lampak where a funeral prayer was performed in the presence of hundreds of people.
After the funeral prayer ceremony, the bodies were taken to their respective locality graveyards and the funeral ceremony was held in the presence of their near and dear ones.

Addressing media persons after the funeral prayer, JAC co-convenor, Islam Makakcha appealed to all concerned to stop posting communal posts on social media platforms in connection with the Lilong firing incident.
Stating that Meiteis and Meiteis Pangals have been co-existing peacefully for many years, he called for restraint from both communities to prevent the escalation of the matter amid the prevailing volatile situation in the State.
He urged both the communities to forgive and forget and strive collectively to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
The five victims have been identified as Md Sirajuddin Makak (55), Md Azad Khan alias Apikpa (35), Md Hussain Makakmayum (25) and Md Dawood Khan Phundreimayum (35) and Moulana Abdur Rajaque (38) .
