Silchar body provides relief items; TAL edibles, jackets

Imphal, January 04 2024:
Barak Manipur Friendship Association (BMFA), on Thursday sent relief items from Silchar for residents of relief camps in the state which has been witnessing ethnic clashes for the last several months.
In a release, BMFA presi dent Biswadeep Gupta said that the relief materials were sent to mitigate to extent hardships being endured by those in relief camps for the past many months.
He urged organisations and civil society groups of the valley to come forward and extend their helping hand to the people of Manipur who are suffering because of the unrest situation.
The release further informed that BMFA would continue sending relief items for the internally displaced persons in Manipur and work out plans to help the people in these troubled times.
It also thanked Meira Paibis of Barak Valley, Assam University Non-Teaching Employees' Association, Lions' Club of Silchar Valley, Youths Against Social Evils and others for donating the relief materials.
He also expressed gratitude to the Jiribam superintendent of police's office which helped in transportation of the relief items from Silchar to Manipur.
On August 13 last year, Barak Manipur Friendship Association had appealed (at a peace convention on the crisis of Manipur in Silchar) to citizens to extend their helping hand towards the people of Manipur.
Representatives from various communities were present at the convention.
Meanwhile, Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) provided jackets and eatables provided by MN Brick Farm, Khongjom proprietor Moirangthem Ningthemjao, to the Arambai Tenggol Churachanpur unit 11 (Homeless Unit) headquartered at Terakhongsangbi.
The team led by TAL president Romeshwar and secretary Ak Jibankumar also provided edibles for resident of the relief camp set up at Keibul Lamjao Chingmei Makha Leikai.
TAL also expressed gratitude to Moirangthem Ningthemjao for the support extended.
