Mortar shell found, search Ops continue

Imphal, January 04 2024:
A 51 mm mortar shell was found in a paddy field near Saraswati Primary School, Serou Part-Ill under Sugnu police station on Thursday.
According to a police report, the mortar shell discovered around 9.30am Thursday.
Upon receipt of information about the explosive device, a joint team of Sugnu police and 31 AR took up necessary security measures before a team of bomb disposal team of AR safely detonated the bomb at the spot around 12.30 pm.
Meanwhile, state and central forces continued to conduct search operation in different areas on Thursday.
However, there is no report of recovery of arms and ammunition during the operation.
According to police, combined teams of 136-D CRPF, Imphal West police commando, 7th MR and women police conducted search operation and area domination patrolling in Koutruk and Kadangband Part-2 area.
During the operation, 100 houses were searched and verified 240 people.
Kakching district police also conducted search operation in SWA area of Kakching Wairi from 8.40 am to 9.40 am and verified people of around 50 households.
