Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group final : S Robinson's unbeaten 154 steers Manipur to 293 in first innings on Day 2

Meghalaya were 63/2 in 29 overs of second innings at stumps on Day 2 of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group final after Manipur amassed 293 runs thanks to an unbeaten ton from skipper Sougaijam Robinson at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.
Resuming the day at 121/3, S Robinson saw his partner Thomsan depart at 24 without adding any run but he anchored till the last over to finish the innings with an unbeaten 154 off 261 deliveries to help Manipur post first innings total of 293 runs in 91.2 overs and enjoy a 182 run lead.

Robinson's knock included 26 fours as he went on to forge a 45 run partnership with Naesh Hussain (29) for the fourth wicket before sharing a crucial 69 run partnership with T Nganba (6) for the 8th wicket.
AK Lohar of Meghalaya finished with the best bowling figures of 3/61 in 29 overs as A Marak too enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/68 in 29 overs).
GJ Thakuria meanwhile claimed two wickets (2/58 in 17 overs) as Bj Makdoh and P Ali clinched a wicket apiece.
Continuing the second day, Meghalaya lost KS Mark on a golden duck as his shot off the Danish's first bowl of the second innings went straight to the hands of T Nganba.
RS Rathor and D Nandi then stitched together a 60 run partnership off 155 deliveries before Hanjabam Donba broke the partnership in the last delivery of the 26th over to reduce them at 60/2 by removing RS Rathor at 19 .
D Nandi 39 and G Narleng 3 were unbeaten for Meghalaya as they called the second day at 63/2 in 29 overs to trail behind Manipur by 119 runs.
