Imphal, January 04 2024:
The new recruits of 10th and 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) have refused to attend their training course if the same is going to be held at Assam or any places outside Manipur and requested the relevant authority to hold the training programme at the usual Manipur Police Training College at Pangei.
The selected IRB candidates submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren in this regard today after an unverified report of holding the training course at Police Training College at Dergaon, Assam emerged.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, one of the selected candidates Kishan Saikhom said that they have taken a unanimous resolution to not attend the training course if the same is held outside Manipur.
He said that sending the 2200 selected candidates to Assam or any places outside Manipur will be problematic given the tense situation in Manipur.
Saying that they have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister but didn't get the chance to meet him, he said that they wouldn't object to going for training to other States if the situation allows.
There are selected candidates from among the displaced families while some have lost their family members and important documents, he said and asked how they can go outside Manipur now.
He said that the training for the selected candidates from the Kuki community can be done at the BSF Training Centre at Churachandpur while appealing to the Government to consider their request.
