AR pays tribute, conducts recruitment training

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at Mantripukhri on Wednesday for havildar (late) Madho Singh Mehta of 4 AR.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that Madho, who lost his life due to bullet injury in a face-off with insurgents near Yangangpokpi, Manipur on March 20, 2005, was honoured at War Memorial for his supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation disregarding personal safety.
Two officers, five junior commissioned officers and 39 other ranks of AR paid tribute by laying wreath and according Guard of Honour, added the PRO.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles launched pre-recruitment training for young aspirants of Imphal West, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts for the upcoming Agniveer Rally at Singjamei and Churachandpur.
According to the PRO, the Assam Rifles adhering to its credo of 'Friends of North East People', is ceaselessly motivating and assisting local youth of the conflict hit remote villages of Manipur to join the Indian Armed Forces through various entries/schemes.
The four-week training capsule is aimed for the aspirants hailing from humble family backgrounds, remote villages and internally displaced youth.
The training programme includes registration of candidates, preparation for written tests, medical test and verification of documents.
Presently, 51 youths have joined the training.
