NPF allots ticket to Timothy Zimik for Outer seat

The Naga People s Front (NPF) has officially designated Kachui Timothy Zimik as its candidate for the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat.
The decision was announced by NPF president Apong Pongener during a ceremony held at the party's Central Office in Kohima, Nagaland.
In the presence of prominent NPF leaders, including Nagaland NPF legislature party leader Kuzholuzo Nienu, Timothy Zimik was handed the party ticket, signifying the party's confidence in his ability to represent the interests of the Naga people in the northeast region.
Speaking on the occasion, Apong Pongener emphasised the party's commitment to safeguarding the identity of the Naga people and addressing their longstanding issues.
He expressed hope that Zimik's candidacy would not only bring accolades to the party but also serve as a voice for the Naga community in the parliament.
In his acceptance speech, Zimik articulated his vision for addressing the decades-old Naga political issue, stating his mission to garner support in Parliament for its resolution.
He underscored the importance of dialogue in achieving peace and harmony among the diverse communities of Manipur, emphasising his intention to play a positive role in fostering understanding and reconciliation.
Hailing from Sinakeithei village in Ukhrul district, Timothy Zimik had served as an officer in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) for several years.
Prior to his retirement as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Government of India in 2022, he pursued academic endeavours as a research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi.
Addressing concerns of inequality and neglect in Manipur's hill districts, Timothy Zimik vowed to advocate for equitable development and resource allocation, aiming to bridge the gap between marginalized communities and mainstream governance.
Meanwhile, NPF Manipur president Awangbow Newmai reaffirmed the party 's alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and just electoral process.
He said that the party had friendly fight in the last Lok Sabha election.
This time too, the party will support BJP in the inner seat and as for the outer seat, both parties will have further discussion in this regard, he said and urged the public to extend their support to the party striving for fostering harmony and progress in the region.
