Imphal, March 21 2024:
All Kongba Road United Clubs' Organisation (AKRUCO) strongly denounced alleged abduction of a woman over monetary demand and firing in residential areas.
In a release, AKRUCO co-convenor Seram Surjit Singh recalled that Irengbam Sunibala, wife of Irengbam Aken Singh of Bamonkampu Mayai Leikai was abducted on March 19 as the Irengbam family defied monetary/extortion demand of the perpetrators.
Stating that the abductors threatened and fired some rounds close to her legs before she was released, the co-convenor condemned abduction of married woman as uncivilised and advised all concerned to refrain from causing physical or mental stress on innocent civilians.
Regarding the firing at the residences of Youth Guidance Club vice president Khamnam Bijoy and one Pangambam Sanajaobi of Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Surjit demanded explanation and further urged not to repeat such act in future.
AKRUCO will join hands with the people to take strong resolutions if abduction and firing in connection with monetary demand do not cease, he cautioned.
